It was raining AGAIN today so I decided to make our living room a big brighter. I know I mentioned awhile ago that I bought 10.5 yards of this fabric from fabric.com for a grand total of $52.93.
This is what my living room looked like this morning. Keep in mind that it was raining outside and I am an idiot and though my white balance was off when, really, I had the camera on the wrong setting so I had to resort to using the flash.
Kinda blah, not really put together properly and the red ottoman had a random screenprint that I did laying over it because I didn't know what else to do with it..
So I started cutting out my 10+ yards of fabric. I had started taking pictures to do a tutorial, but like I mentioned, I'm an idiot and wasn't using my camera properly. This is what the living room looks like after about two hours of sewing curtains and thirty minutes of making a slip cover out of one of the old curtain panels for the red ottoman.
*sigh* so much better. It feels so much more homey in here and just moving around the ottomans and side table opens it up a bit more. Love it! The slipcovered ottoman is Wilma-approved too:
That screenprinted fabric is going to be worked in with something else I'm working on this weekend, so stay tuned.
Ok, so really, for just over $50 I feel like our living room completely transformed. We are always talking about redoing the floors and scraping the ceilings down so I don't want to put too much money into any single room right now.
Oh, and if anyone is curious: I HIGHLY recommend using fabric.com for any fabric purchases. This was the first time I ordered from them and they sent the fabric on a bolt so I had hardly any ironing to do, plus shipping was fast even though it was free (free shipping over $35!). Another tip- just google for coupon codes...each time I've used them, I've been able to get an additional 15% off.

Wow, that is dramatic! I think the yellow is so happy and perfect in there!

Thank you! Yes, I think it's much happier, too. Yellow is my favorite color and for some reason I never even thought of bringing it into this room even though it's adjacent to our yellow kitchen. It worked out perfectly!

Your project is so freaking awesome that I just had to feature it this week in my Hookin Up with HoH party.
Stop by and take a button! You deserve it. ;)

Your room looks so happy and cheerful. A year ago I had my kitchen painted yellow but it's dark yellow. My living room is a soft butter yellow. I never thought I'd have yellow either. I just had an apron made to match my kitchen. You can see the post here: http://katspurrfectboutique.blogspot.com/2011/05/its-time-for-may-cottage-style-party.html
What's sad is that I can sew but my machine messes up the stitches. I guess I need a new one. Or new eyes?

I love yellow! It is such a happy color. Great job with your curtains. I'm sure the room feels so much brighter.

That ikat print is so much bigger than it looks on the fabric.com website--I love it! And what a great deal on 10.5 yards. The yellow definitely brightens up the room. :)
Visiting from the Roomspiration party!

Love the color!! It's amazing what a little bit of fabric can do. Nice job! Thanks for linking up to Roomspiration :)

Thanks for all the sweet comments! The print is a lot larger than it looks online, but I'm glad because I think it would have looked a bit goofy in such long panels had it been smaller. :)

Those drapes are awesome! Wish I had some! I would love for you to look at the ones I put together and get your opinion. I can't decide if I like them enough to make more. You did a wonderful job! BTW, I've done the same thing before with using the wrong camera setting. lol at least it made your after photo look even better ;)
